Which seems to have gone worryingly smoothly, given that I’m running this thing myself now. But PHP is just ZX Basic with PR.

Please leave a comment if you encounter any problems, such as feeds not working, or being unable to leave comments etc.

Thank you to Gordon for recommending ‘A Small Orange’ hosting, who have been incredibly good, despite sounding ridiculous. It is his fault if anything breaks. I chose not to go with Hotpoint in the end.

There is a new ‘top commentators’ widget that tries to link back to you if you’re particularly active in the comments box, as a way of trying to get over the endless blogroll dilemma thing. We’ll see how it goes – if it gets clogged up with spam or whatever then I’ll take it off.

Testing, 123…

First? Wow! Hmm, you’re running it?? like the washing machine?? Good luck =)

  2. Megan says:

You realize top commenter will simply reward Ivan – is that what you really, deeply, truly want to do?

  3. ganching says:

This was about the washing machine wasn’t it?

  4. Gordon says:

    Ohhh. Named.

    Erk!

    *runs off and hides*
*then heads over to A Small Orange website to claim his fee*
*remembers he never setup the referral option, dammit

  5. Pat says:

I didn’t understand a word of that but I do know that Orange are reducing their VAT in January. Rejoice!

  6. Oh dear… are your blog archives still lurking somewhere? Or am I blind a a bat and just can’t see them? I mean…. I mean… I haven’t had time to go back and read all of them

  7. Nevermind. You don’t seem to have an option for idiots like me to remove a post after I realize that the archive thing is sitting right there to the right. dumb dumb… wilting with embarrassment….

  8. admin says:

Thank you in all seriousness Gordon. Their ‘patient advice and techie support’ to ‘amount I am paying them’ ratio is very impressive so far.

Hullo Leilani Weatherington and welcome, stalker!!! stalker!!!

And whatever widgets I install will NEVER prompt Pat to get her url right when she leaves a comment. I never change it, Pat, in case it is some bizarre privacy thing you do.

  9. admin says:

Oh – I am being labelled ‘admin’. There is probably a button somewhere to correct that. I am not admin. I am management.

I’m terribly excited, because at the moment I’m top of the top commentators. It could just mean I talk too much, but surely not?

The only tiny thing I might mention is that I’ve had to leave my name and stuff each time I’ve left a comment, but ‘each’ only actually means ‘twice’. So far.

  11. “worryingly smoothly”, eh? Have you contracted some mild form of competence, Jonny? Careful now – it’s a slippery slope all downhill from there. Next thing you know you’ll have a proper job. And pants.

You have an interesting definition of “reward” there, Megan. But happily, any benefits, such as they are, will surely shower upon the curly tresses of my old friend PI “Hatpin” Pat. Couldn’t happen to a nicer person…

  12. Dave says:

This sounds worryingly high-tech. Will it affect the chickens?

  13. Eunoia says:

FWIW, the blog displays here narrower than it previously was.
Physically that is, not contextually 😉

  14. Richard says:

It seems to render OK on the Crewe Library Commodore 64.

  15. Golly, I see some people have their mug shot next to their comments. Will this automatically find a mug shot of me?

  16. It did! Blimey that IS clever.

glad to hear it all went well. i have previously migrated a site and it was a bit nerve racking i must say. never want anything to go wrong or to loose any of your database. i just backed everything up to two different hard drives before switching my site over. oh and the top commenters plugin is great. i use it to get people to be a bit more active on my site.
