Have you been given the meat yet? Eat it quickly.

  2. ajb1605 says:

    Did you sell it COD?

  3. AndyM says:

Is that a reasonable return on investment for the original steak?

  4. Megan says:

Well, the swapped-for meat is probably okay, but you might want to use a bit of caution with anything procured from Len the Fish for a few months. Would hate to see your blog devolve into a series of short posts titled: I Feel a Bit Odd…

i bet he never dreamt the meat he was handing over had a longer use by date than the car he drove away in. life is full of surprises

  6. guyana gyal says:

    Quick, hide the meat.

This is like that story of the guy who started off with a paperclip and then swapped it with loads of different objects of increasing value until he ended up with a house: Len the Fish’s son started with some meat, he swapped it for a car, which he swapped for a £240 repair bill. The way this is going though, its going to take something pretty dramatic for him to end up with a house.

I got my sister’s car for nothing 2 yrs ago. Thrilled, I was – until it cost me £660 to repair so that I could drive back from Devon to Durham. Then I sold it for £300. So Len’s lad isn’t doing too bad, a bit of beef and £240….so far!

This is one of my favourite blog posts. Ever.

    I’ve read it several times.

  10. Everyone just seems to blithely assume that Jonny took the meat planning to eat it. This is Norfolk we’re talking about, people – Len’s son would know better than to ask for his meat back after Jonny had spent more than ninety seconds alone with it…

  11. Ole Phat Stu says:

    Oh, that’s tough!

And the meat is probably tough too, so may I suggest that you just beat your meat? 😉

Short and sweet – the title says it all.

Honestly. I spend ages, finely crafting blog posts of many hundreds of words, and then I post this and I get just as many comments and readers…

  14. Zed says:

I bet the LTLP had more to say than just “Oh”.

  15. Z says:

You spend ages finely crafting blog posts of many hundreds of words?

  16. Jennifer H-J says:

I would ask what it was that the young lad did to the car to cause it to break down, seeing as the LTLP had driven it successfully for ages, thus rendering it to be known as a ‘reliable’ car. The young man in question seemed able to wreck it in a remarkably short time… You know what they say about young new male drivers and cars… I would say they should feel pleased that Len the Fish didn’t actually pay any proper money for it. He’d be proper pissed off then…!

  17. Sewmouse says:

You offered it to him for free.

    He insisted on the trade.

    Caveat Emptor, and all that.

    Is the photograph you?
You look much nicer than I had imagined. More grown up.
